Communitas Dei was funded and is leaded by the Rev. Alexis Bastidas, a priest with over 24 years of experience. Father Alexis has consistently demonstrated interest in the spiritual development of the Hispanic Catholic community.

Some of the activities developed by Father Alexis and the Blessed Sacrament Church in New York include:
• Spiritual, social and cultural activities.
• Events to benefits projects in Latin America.
• Forums, and cultural and religious seminars regarding Latin American culture and religion.
• Created “www.nygente.com” as a communications medium for the Hispanic population of the parish.
